The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links bar

The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links
After breakfast, your Little’s chauffeur will return. Depending on your preference, your chauffeur will whisk you off to Glasgow Airport for the short 30 min flight to Islay, or alternatively, will drive you through the west coast of Scotland to Kennacraig, to catch the ferry to Islay. The beautiful island of Islay is home to The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links. Big skies, soaring eagles, red deer, miles of sandy beaches, bird watching all year round and its famous smoky malts– Islay has them all. It has a place in the heart of every whisky lover, but it’s not just the world-class distilleries that draw visitors to this beautiful island.

Scotland has been home to many of the world's best-selling gin brands such as Gordon’s, Tanqueray and Hendricks for years. Islay is home to The Botanist and Isle of Islay Nerabus Heather and Nerabus Gorse Gin, as well as award winning Lussa Gin in the neighbouring island of Jura. The Machrie Gin has been beautifully crafted using a mix of botanicals including sorrel foraged directly from The Machrie’s world-renowned dunes to create a unique and refreshing flavour. The zesty spirit pairs perfectly with elderflower tonic and a squeeze of pink grapefruit.

This two-night experience includes:

  • Full Scottish breakfast each morning
  • The Machrie Perfect Serve Gins out on the Terrace prior to dinner
  • 3-course dinner on one night
  • Picnic dinner on the beach watching the sunset (out on the Terrace if the weather is not on our side)
  • Bottle of Machrie Gin to take home (70cl)
  • There's also an interactive session explaining The Botanist drinking strategy, using local, foraged flavour to create impactful drinks.

Prices start from £675 per couple for two nights.

After checking out you could head to the airport or ferry terminal for your return to mainland Scotland and then onwards to Glasgow or Edinburgh for your late afternoon flight or train home.

Day Five & Six

The Torridon
Alternatively, why not extend your stay and let your Little’s chauffeur take you up to the north-west of Scotland, to the award-winning Torridon in Wester Ross. The Torridon launched their own gin, Arcturus, in 2017 with botanicals from the estate which the team had foraged and collected. In 2019 they developed their own gin garden as part of the kitchen garden on the estate. A star studded pool and pergola was built and planted with all the botanicals required to create Arcturus.

Dunnet Bay Distillers
Your chauffeur can then take you further north along the stunning North Coast 500 route. Relax in comfort and drink in the stunning landscape. Once you reach Caithness, enjoy a bracing walk along the beautiful and quiet beaches before visiting Luxury Scotland Partner, Dunnet Bay Distillers, a VisitScotland 5 star visitor attraction. Situated in the spectacular bay of Dunnet, the distillery is the most northerly distillery in mainland Britain.

Your chauffeur will then drive you back south, perhaps staying at one of our other Luxury Scotland hotels en-route to break your journey south, before catching your train or plane home.
