Awards, Activities & Experiences at
LUXURY SCOTLAND

Awards and Activities were the focus of our Luxury Scotland properties during March. We also have some news about the Loch Lomond Food Festival and the Scottish Rhododendron Festival … so read on.

A well-deserved personal award went to Kieran Rose, front of house manager at Borthwick Castle who received a National Hero Award at the 2019 Scottish Thistle Awards.

The team at Machrie Hotel & Golf Course were thrilled to win the Best Newcomer Award at The Prestige Awards in Glasgow. Their general manager Iain Hamilton also won the prestigious Best General Manager Award. Congratulations to them all on maintaining such high standards and achieving our industry’s recognition for excellence.

When it comes to activity and adventure, Scotland is hard to beat. Kinloch Lodge on Skye received impressive coverage in the press for their Country Escapes package. The package includes photo stalking, fishing, foraging, wildlife walks and otter spotting on Skye.

And full marks to Hebridean Princess for yet another excellent video. This particular video showcases the splendours and the wide range of activities avaiable to passengers on Hebridean Island Cruises.

For those who enjoy the exhilarating experience of touring Scotland in style, The Torridon’s Morgan Experience is a must. Here is your chance to drive this magnificent British roadster on an adrenaline-inducing spin around the winding North Coast 500 – considered by Jeremy Clarkson to be one of the best driving routes in the world!

With the Easter Holidays almost upon us, consider letting the kids take the lead and take advantage of the ‘Kids go Free’ promotions at The Airds Hotel in Port Appin. Activities include exploring the Island of Lismore, ascending Scotland highest mountain by gondola and enjoying the Tree Zone at the awe inspiring Glencoe Mountain range. And, watch out for more classic cars – this time at Airds – another ideal location from which to enjoy the NC 500 route.

A more relaxed and quieter experience can be found at The Coach House Spa at Kinross House Estate on the shores of Loch Leven. Here you can enjoy a range of specialist spa treatments in a truly historic setting looking out towards Loch Leven Castle made famous by Mary Queen of Scotland.

For more iconic views in more urban setting, consider the amazing Hydropool at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa – right in the heart of Edinburgh. Voted one of the UK’s best urban rooftop pools, the open air Hydropool at One Spa is sensational with views out across Scotland’s capital city.

Staying in Scotland’s capital city, the Cucina Restaurant at the Epicure Bar in the Radisson Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh has launched a series of delicious Spring menus, Brunch Menus and Afternoon Teas. For those keen on recording their hotel experiences, The Radisson’s ‘Selfie Mirrors’ are sure to enhance any social media page.

And while we’re considering our dining options, take a look at the impressive Cocktail Masterclass and Whisky Tastings available at The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews. With stunning views overlooking the Home of Golf and Open Championship venue, these Master Classes promise to take your cocktail skills and knowledge of Scotch whiskies to the next level.

For food lovers Scotland’s Food & Drink Festival returns to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond over the weekend of 6th and 7th April. With cookery demos from a range of great chefs including Chef Martin Sweeney and over 70 food and drink suppliers. All set against the famous backdrop of Loch Lomond and only 30 minutes from Glasgow’s One Devonshire Gardens, the festival promises to be a real taste of Scotland.

The Scottish Rhododendron Festival is a glorious celebration of a different kind. Taking place from 1st April until 31st May the festival features over 50 individual events at various garden locations including Scotland’s four major Botanical Gardens. Visitors to Luxury Scotland properties including Glenapp CastleCrinan HotelKnockinaam LodgeInverlochy and Isle of Eriska Hotel should look out for this wonderful floral event

Whatever you decide to do… I wish you an enjoyable April.
