Luxury Scotland interviews House of Bruar Exec
PR, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator Taran Baker provides insider access to Summer 2019 at The House of Bruar, just ten minutes away from Luxury Scotland member Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa.
- What new additions are coming to HOB this Spring?
As we head into July the store is filled with our SS19 ranges, with a new collection of tailored summer jackets for men and new brands for ladies such as Pomodoro and Villagallo. Across the store we have introduced a new Jewellery department focusing on individually selected pieces to complement any wardrobe and opened ‘The Bakery’ serving fresh coffee, ice cream and fine patisserie during the day. We are also lucky to be the first-ever independent stockist of Jo Malone products in our Gifts and Home-ware department, bringing an exciting new element to our Present Shop.
2. What are your top five wedding gift ideas?
With the wide range of stock available we see a very eclectic selection for wedding lists, but some of the top gifts are products from our new glass range from Twist Glass Studios – hand-blown in Britain, the club room men’s leather ranges including desks stationery, chairs and luggage, we often get requests for classic kitchenware such as Le Creuset which we can special order, and the new Home Scents range from Jo Malone provides a finishing touch to many wedding lists.
3. What is in the essential HOB picnic basket?
As we head into summer the first thing we would suggest is stocking up on the House of Bruar Smoked Salmon and pairing it with your favourite cheeses from our delicatessen. Our fresh Scotch Eggs, Pork Pies and Sausage rolls which are available daily, as is fresh bread from the award-winning Perthshire bakery Casella & Polegato. To finish off the perfect picnic, we’d suggest visiting our Drinks rooms for everything from wine and champagne to the finest Scottish Gins and Whiskies. Of course, we also provide bespoke hampers for those who wish to just drive by and pick up a ready-made picnic on their way.
4. What are the basics for a Scottish designer wardrobe?
You cannot go wrong with the basics of a well-tailored Tweed Hacking Jacket, paired with one of our Liberty shirts for women or men’s Tattersals. With the addition of either a Schoffel gilet or one of The House of Bruar’s cashmere jumpers in a complimentary colour, and finished off with a pair of Dubarry Boots or Crockett and Jones shoes depending on the occasion.
5. What is there to do nearby HOB?
As we are in the heart of Highland Perthshire there are lots of local sights to see, whether you are visiting Blair Castle just 5 miles down the road, or spending the night in Pitlochry to see a show at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. We are also in prime walking country, surrounded by the Cairngorm National Park and just a short drive to the edge of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The area is also known for its fishing, golfing, adventure sports and spas, so there really is something for everyone.
