VIP visit for Cringletie, World Travel Award nominees and more

This summer, thousands of cyclists descended on Scotland for the UCI World Cycling Championships. No fewer than 13 world championships took place over 11 days across Glasgow, Stirlingshire and the Tweed Valley – and as well as bringing some cycling talent, Luxury Scotland member Cringletie played host to a very special visitor.

We also saw some prestigious awards nominations announced, with the World Travel Awards and the Visit Scotland Thistle Awards both recognising Luxury Scotland members. Plus, the Sheraton Grand cemented their eco-credentials with a Green Key certification. Read on for all the details.

Food fit for a prince at Cringletie

The World Cycling Championship proved to be an especially momentous occasion for Luxury Scotland members Cringletie, who hosted a special Visit Scotland lunch during the event that was attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco, UCI President David Lappartient and UCI Director General Amina Lanaya.

The VIP guests enjoyed a showcase of Scottish produce that included wild turbot, hand-dived Orkney scallops and fresh strawberries, including plenty of delicious local ingredients from the estate’s kitchen garden.

A trio of World Travel wonders

We’d like to extend our warmest congratulations to no fewer than three Luxury Scotland members who’ve been recognised with a nomination in the 2023 World Travel Awards. These prestigious awards celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries, and are a hallmark of industry excellence.

First, we’re raising a glass to the team at Johnnie Walker Princes Street, who have been announced as finalists for the title of ‘Europe’s Leading Spirit Tourism Experience’. This iconic new destination reimagines whisky traditions as an inclusive and dynamic adventure in the capital.

Congratulations also to two Luxury Scotland members who are up for ‘Scotland’s Leading Hotel 2023’. In the running are The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh, as well as Inverlochy Castle.

There's nothing prickly about these Thistles

A big shout out to the following Luxury Scotland Members for being shortlisted in the Scottish Tourism Thistle Awards in the ‘Best Hotel Experience’ category. For almost 30 years these awards have shone a spotlight on the best in the Scottish tourism industry.

·      The newly refurbished Cromlix in Stirlingshire.

·      Murrayshall Country Estate in beautiful Perthshire.

·      Cringletie in the gorgeous Scottish Borders beside Peebles.

Congratulations to all the finalists and good luck ahead of the awards ceremony later this month!
