Crossbasket Castle announces expansion

Luxury Scotland member Crossbasket Castle is undertaking an exciting expansion, set to launch on 1st August 2024. The nine-bedroom 17th-century castle and estate near Blantyre has already been extensively renovated over five years.

And, after a significant further investment of £20 million, the five-star property will re-open as a completely new 40-bedroom hotel, two five-bedroom eco-lodges, a 100-cover courtyard bar and a first-of-its-kind Scottish destination restaurant - Trocaderos.

A new, art-deco-styled cocktail bar and dining destination, Trocaderos will incorporate live music, amazing food and exceptional service.

This will be in addition to the existing dining option at the castle – a contemporary fine-dining restaurant overseen by legendary French chef Albert Roux and his son, Michel Roux Jr.

A new spa is being developed at the property, too. This is spread over two secluded lodges with three treatment spaces apiece and is set to offer heat experiences, relaxation areas, outdoor hydrotherapy pools and a signature product line.

On the fresh developments, Crossbasket Castle owners Alison and Steve Timoney said:

‘It’s tremendously exciting to reveal a first glimpse of our hotel and restaurant that we couldn’t be more excited to open this year. Attention to detail and personalised customer service are the hallmarks of Crossbasket.

‘The interiors will be lavish but welcoming, and luxury will be found in the materials, as well as bespoke, upholstered furniture in classic styles with plenty of cosy corners for private, more intimate moments with friends and loved ones.

‘To say this has been a passion project is an understatement. It has been a remarkable process that has called for dedication and in terms of furnishing and design, extraordinary craftsmanship.’
