Our newest members: Ardbeg House and Jetlogic
This January, we’re thrilled to welcome two new additions to Luxury Scotland. Member property Ardbeg House is a world-class whisky and hospitality experience on Islay, while Jetlogic is a luxury private jet and helicopter specialist operating from Edinburgh.
Read on to learn more about them both.
Ardbeg House
This striking boutique hotel in the heart of Port Ellen only opened its doors for the first time in autumn, but the timing couldn't be better. The island of Islay was just recognised by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the Best Places to go in Europe for 2026, and the hotel is perfectly positioned to showcase the very best of the island to whisky connoisseurs and lovers of its wild Hebridean landscape.
Ardbeg House offers beautiful accommodation with 12 individually crafted rooms, each a masterclass in luxury, style and storytelling. Whether you opt for a cosy, characterful space or a ravishing riot of colour, pattern and glamour, you’ll find a base that’s brimming with inspiration and beauty.
Once you’ve checked in, you're just steps from the freshest island flavours. The hotel’s Signature Restaurant celebrates all the glorious drama of the Islay larder, serving sea-caught crabs and langoustines, whisky-smoked venison and hearty loaves baked from the same grain as the whisky produced in the nearby Ardbeg Distillery.
And if, like most, you came for the whisky, your first port of call should be The Islay Bar at Ardbeg House. Here, you can explore an impressive range of Ardbeg malts and sample the many legendary whiskies produced on Islay, one dram at a time.
Three miles down the road, you can take a tour of Ardbeg Distillery, tracing the spectacular malts served in the bar to their source and sampling a range of either core or limited-edition drams. Touring this renowned distillery is so highly-recommended that a complimentary tour and tasting is included with every room booking at Ardbeg House.
Even further afield, Islay is home to no fewer than ten distilleries, including Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Bowmore – impressive considering that the island’s total population is only around 3,000 people! Many of these distilleries offer exclusive warehouse tastings and bottlings that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
After all this imbibement, you'll find Islay’s natural beauty quite the tonic. Pack some stout walking boots and binoculars and set out to discover a birding and wildlife wonderland. Wander the coastal paths to spot seals, porpoises and seabirds, or roam the moorland to keep an eye out for red deer, hares and golden eagles.
Secluded, sandy beaches like Machir Bay and Currie Sands promise golden shoreline and clear waters - a wild and romantic backdrop to any windswept walk with the roar of the Atlantic as your soundtrack, or make for The Oa for an invigorating clifftop ramble.
If you consider yourself a history buff, include a pilgrimage to Finlaggan. It’s the site of the ancient Lords of the Isles’ council seat, a former centre of Scottish rule until the 15th century. You can also check out ancient stone Celtic crosses, including the Kildalton Cross, which dates to the 8th century.
Whatever you get up to, Ardbeg House places the very best of the island on your doorstep. We'll be including a trip in our 2026 New Year Resolutions - slàinte!
