Event: Michel Roux at Andrew Fairlie Restaurant at Gleneagles

On 22 and 23 November, legendary chef Michel Roux will host a special culinary event in the intimate setting of Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles.

This exceptional event will see Michel’s son Alain Roux – chef patron of the UK’s longest-standing three Michelin-starred restaurant The Waterside Inn – join his old friend Andrew Fairlie to create a gastronomic experience that celebrates the finest Scottish seafood and game, at the peak of the season.

With a six-course menu that showcases this sensational Scottish produce, the event includes a Champagne and canapé reception, wine pairings for each course and a signed copy of Michel’s new book.

This experience is available to our loyal newsletter subscribers at £425 per person, with a maximum of four adults per booking. Please note: seating is on a Captain’s Table format; tickets are extremely limited and are available on a first-come, first-served. For this reason reservations are by email only.

Due to the unique nature of the menu no special dietary requirements will be accommodated. A full (non-refundable) prepayment is required at time of booking.

An overnight accommodation package including this event is available in an Estate Room at Gleneagles from £1,225 for two adults, including breakfast the following morning. To book contact reservations@andrewfairlie.co.uk

Commemorative blue plaque at Knockinaam Lodge Hotel

Recently Knockinaam Lodge Hotel‘s grounds have been receiving a lot more visitors than usual. A commemorative blue plaque was put on the property to celebrate the life of Lt Cdr Malcolm Wanklyn who used to live at the property and is considered to be “the most successful submarine commander of World War Two”.

Lt Cdr Malcolm Wanklyn was a Victoria Cross recipient.

David Ibbotson, Proprietor of Knockinaam Lodge, said:

“We are delighted to help honour the memory of submarine Commander Wanklyn in this way. Knockinaam Lodge was the childhood home of this brave man, awarded the Victoria Cross, and it is fitting that his significant contribution is recognised permanently with a blue plaque to commemorate his life here, at a place which was meaningful to him, in the Rhins of Galloway.”
