August sees the unveiling of a unique version of the famous Monopoly Game. The Connoisseurs Scotland Edition of Monopoly will give players the chance to tour Scotland for the hottest hotel properties, buy them, develop them and watch their investments shoot up in value.

The game includes the small gourmet hotels such as Crinan Hotel, Knockinaam Lodge, Airds and Kinloch Lodge, as well as those world-famous destinations of Gleneagles, Trump Turnberry and The Old Course Hotel. All form part of this very exclusive and unique edition of Monopoly.

You could be a winner and play the game in your favourite Luxury Scotland hotel. Twelve lucky people will be receiving one of these Luxury Scotland Editions by simply letting us know where in Scotland they would love to play the game and which famous Scottish people they would like to play with.

Each month, from August through to November, we will give away three of our Limited Edition Games to the most amusing or original suggestions.

Four Wonderful Road Trips around Scotland

Four Wonderful Road Trips around Scotland

Driving around Scotland is a wonderful experience and one of the best ways to enjoy and discover more about this wonderful country.

The North Coast 500 [NC500] is a stunning tour around the north of Scotland and is one of the greatest road trips in the world. Starting and ending in Inverness the trip covers 500 miles of spectacular countryside, wide open roads, friendly people and delicious fresh, local food. To fully enjoy the North Coast 500 will take you the best part of a week.

However, if you are looking for something shorter, I have four tours of my favourite road trips to share with you. They will introduce you to four special regions of Scotland with magnificent scenery and most are easily driven in a day.

Scotland is a paradise for those who enjoy travelling by car. I am always in awe of new discoveries and the dramatic landscapes as I travel around Scotland. I hope these tours will whet your appetite for discovering our wonderful country.

Jeremy Hawkings, Chief Executive,
Luxury Scotland.

1. The East Neuk of Fife Tour

This a short 25 miles itinerary along Fife’s Coastal Route.

Within a few hours you can enjoy spectacular coastal scenery, visit several historic fishing villages, find out how Scotch whisky is distilled and discover how some of Scotland most famous cheeses are made.

You might even take a boat trip to the Isle of May where you will see puffins, seals and other wildlife.

2. The East Lothian and the Borders Tour

About 65 miles long, depending on how many of the wonderful stately homes you decide to visit.

We begin at the seaside with a chance to discover one of the world’s most famous seabird colonies and to visit a unique distillery famous for making ‘The Edinburgh Malt’.

Then we drive off to discover some of Scotland’s castles and great mansion houses including the home of Sir Walter Scott, the famous Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet.

3. The Road to the Isles Tour

One of my favourite journeys in Scotland.

It is 50 miles long, runs from Fort William to Mallaig and has some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. During this tour you will cross The Caledonian Canal, see the famous Neptune’s Staircase and walk on the The Sands of Morar.

You can enjoy marvellous views of Ben Nevis and you might catch a glimpse of The Jacobite Steam Train as it crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct featured in the Harry Potter Films.

4. The Rest and be Thankful – The Bridge over the Atlantic Tour

Like its title, this route is longer than the other. Approximately 200 miles it is worth taking 3 days to enjoy.

The trip starts with a drive up and over The Rest and be Thankful, one of the most famous roads in Scotland. The route travels through the towns of Inverary and Mynard on Loch Fyne where you can visit Inverary Castle and explore the archaeological sites of standing stones.

You can also enjoy some of the best of Scottish seafood at the end of the Crinan Canal. You will be able to drive over the Clachan Bridge which is known as ‘The Bridge over the Atlantic’ and experience the majesty of Glen Coe.

Kinloch Lodge chef Marcello Tully Launches his First Recipe Book

The book called The Key Ingredient is a compilation of some of Marcello’s favourite recipes both past and present. Inspired by his homeland of Brazil, Marcello shares some vibrant recipes reminiscent of his childhood.

Together with the food served at Kinloch Lodge Hotel, on the stunning Isle of Skye, where Marcello relocated his family 10 years ago, Marcello wants to share with you how to achieve Michelin style meals at home. Often with a combination of bitter, sweet flavours, these recipes will give you an insight into one of Scotland’s best restaurants, without having to leave your doorstep!

The book can be bought online for £25 via his website:

About Marcello:

Marcello Tully is the Brazilian-Scottish Chef Director of Kinloch Lodge, where he won and retained a Michelin star for six consecutive years.

Marcello’s chef experience started early. At 14 he worked part time in London as a commis-chef in a French restaurant, where his passion for food began. He caught the eye of Albert Roux who was at the time building Home Rouxl, the first sous-vide plant in the U.K.

For the following six years Marcello worked for Albert, honing his skills and developing new dishes. It was here that his passion for getting the very best out of the simplest of ingredients emerged. Marcello subsequently worked in a number of Roux establishments including; Albert’s then 3 Michelin star restaurant in Mayfair, Le Gavroche, Rouxl Britannia restaurant and La Boucherie Lamartine, moving on to be Albert’s head-chef at Home Roux.

In 2007 Claire Macdonald approached Marcello to bring his professional experience to head the kitchens at Kinloch and take the restaurant to a new level. Within a year Marcello and his team were awarded 3 AA rosettes, followed by a Michelin Star one year later.

Marcello represents Kinloch and Scotland around the world as an ambassador and spokesman for the industry and has appeared frequently on TV, radio and in the press. He provides food demonstrations throughout the year to hotel guests, across the UK and beyond. He has also recently launched a series of workshops and classes at Kinloch Lodge, where he teaches a range of chef skills, shows how a professional kitchen operates and inspires guests with new ideas for entertaining at home.
