News, awards and what's on
The last 30 days have been impressive ones for Luxury Scotland members. Award nominations have rolled in throughout the month, while a couple of properties have already claimed their victories.
Here’s the latest.
Condé Nast readers choose Scotland
In the category of the UK’s friendliest cities, both Edinburgh and Glasgow have sailed into the top five. Edinburgh took the top spot – Condé Nast included this guide to exploring the city – while Glasgow placed fourth, its seventh straight year in the top 10.
Two cheers for Crossbasket and Murrayshall
The Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence recognise top luxury hotels, spas, and unique hospitality venues around the world. So naturally, several of our members have been shortlisted.
Huge congratulations to Crossbasket Castle (‘Best Venue for Weddings & Events’) and Murrayshall Country Estate (‘Best Resort’), who are both finalists for the UK, Europe and Mediterranean awards.

Five members who found the Keys to success
Michelin Keys designate the world’s most outstanding hotels. We raise a glass in celebration of five Luxury Scotland members who received their Michelin Keys last month, and hope it unlocks many new opportunities for them going forward:
– Glenapp Castle
– Prestonfield
– Kinloch Lodge
– The Torridon
– Glenmorangie House
Glenapp Castle savours the suite taste of victory
In a UK-wide competition based on eye-popping interiors and a genuine sense of place, only a truly spectacular suite could hope to prevail. And The Nest at Glenapp Castle is nothing if not spectacular.
Well done to everyone at Glenapp Castle for winning ‘Suite of the Year’ at the Boutique Hotelier Awards 2026. A highly differentiated luxury experience where the surrounding landscape is a core part of the product, The Nest has earned every honour.
The Torridon's on a roll
The Hotel Cateys are prestigious, peer-judged annual awards that serve as a benchmark of excellence for hospitality. Created by The Caterer magazine, they celebrate the finest people, teams, and properties in the UK hotel industry.
Danny Young may soon need to expand his trophy cabinet after being shortlisted for ‘Hotel Chef of the Year’ (fewer than 250 covers). The Torridon is also shortlisted for ‘Sustainable Hotel of the Year’.
Fingers crossed that our December newsletter reports back on two sweeping victories!
Guten tag, Scotland!
Looking forward to the holiday season in 2027, we’re thrilled to share a series of new direct flights between Scotland and Germany. The Glasgow-Frankfurt service will run up to six times per week, starting 29 March 2027, while a separate twice-a-week Glasgow-Munich route opens on 16 May.
Delightfully for our northern readers, Inverness Airport will also open a direct service to Frankfurt every week from 19 June to 11 September.
