Ardbeg House

News, awards and what's on

The year is already shaping up to be a significant one for Luxury Scotland members, with a string of awards, openings, and refurbishments dominating the headlines this month. Here's what's been happening.

Ardbeg House leapfrogs the competition

Just five months after opening its doors, Ardbeg House on Islay has been named Hotel of the Year by both The Times and The Sunday Times - topping their respective lists of the best places to stay in Britain. This is a remarkable achievement for a property that's still finding its feet. If you haven't yet made the trip to Islay, this might be the nudge you needed.

2027 cruises now open for Hebridean Princess

The beloved 28-berth Hebridean Princess has released her programme for next year. And if recent history is anything to go by, the most popular itineraries won't last long. Browse the full 2027 cruise calendar and plan accordingly.

Outlander's final chapter

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending a Q&A with the cast of Outlander in New York, celebrating the launch of the eighth and final series of this gripping show. The excitement in Manhattan was palpable - a reminder of just how much this show has done for Scottish tourism over the years. Series 8 is now airing on Starz in the US and MGM+ in the UK. Watch the Q&A here

Greywalls closes for a full refurbishment

Big news from East Lothian: Greywalls Hotel will close later this year for a complete renovation under Marine & Lawn, expanding to 32 rooms while giving the existing cottages and Colonel's House a full refresh. A signature Marine & Lawn putting green will be a welcome new addition to the grounds, all delivered while preserving the soul of the original Lutyens-designed estate.

It will be well worth the wait.

Seall of approval at Knockinaam's new lodge

Knockinaam Lodge has quietly added something rather special to its Galloway hillside. Seall Lodge - the companion to the award-winning Shingle Lodge - is a two-bedroom retreat with sea views, a glass-fronted balcony and the option of a private chef serving either bespoke menus or dishes inspired by the hotel restaurant.

On a more immediate note, Knockinaam is also offering complimentary transport to and from your home for dinner by the sea - available Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March only. Contact Knockinaam Lodge directly for more info.

Little's Chauffeur Drive turns 60 in style

Sixty years in and with no signs of slowing down, Little’s Chauffeur Drive has added two new Mercedes-Benz Grand Tourer Sprinters - 16 seats, bespoke leather, finished in their signature burgundy - to the fleet.

This comes alongside the announcement of a well-deserved silver at the QSI Awards for Chauffeur Operator of the Year. From Glasgow airport transfers to guided itineraries around the country, Little's remains the benchmark for luxury transport in Scotland.

On the radar: new flights from Hanover to Glasgow

From 29th June, Eurowings will operate three weekly flights between Hanover and Glasgow, brilliant news for Europeans planning a Scottish summer.

Spring has sprung at Crossbasket Castle

From a Soul Brunch on 29th March to an Easter Sunday Disney Princess Afternoon Tea, complete with egg hunt, Crossbasket Castle has put together a superb itinerary of events. Whether you're travelling as a couple or with the kids, it's worth hatching a plan to visit Crossbasket Castle this spring.
