Scottish Rhododendrons
& Luxury Scotland’s Hotel Gardens

With Spring well established throughout Scotland, a spellbinding landscape of colours greets visitors to our Luxury Scotland properties.

Perhaps the most colourful event you’ll find during May is Scotland’s Rhododendron Festival organised by Discover Scottish Gardens.

The festival promotes some of Scotland’s best gardens and woodlands with stunning displays of rhododendrons. Over 30 new venues are set to participate in this years Festival, each hosting activities and walks for all the family and demonstrating why rhododendrons attracts such an avid following from Scotland’s visitors.

Scotland’s west coast is home to some of the most spectacular horticultural displays – many of which are easily reached from our Luxury Scotland hotels.

In the north, the majestic displays of Inverewe Gardens and Arduaine are all easily accessible from InverlochyTorridonIsle of Eriska HotelAirds Hotel and Glencoe House.

These hotels also have their own delightful gardens, many of which will be featuring dramatic rhododendron blooms.

Further south, Crinan Hotel has a small but deightful garden adjacent to the hotel and featured in this year’s Rhododendron festival. Further south, the gardens at Culzean Castle and Logan Botanical Gardens are a must for anyone staying at Glenapp Castle or Knockinaam Lodge.

If stunning garden are one of your interests then Luxury Scotland holds some horticultural surprises.

InverlochyGreywallsBoath House and Glenapp Castle all have superb gardens and are often featured amongst the UK’s top hotel gardens

Boath House is of particular interest to garden enthusiasts.

Reflecting the skills and passion of owner and garden designer, Wendy Matheson, Boath House boasts bee hives, hens, a wonderful walled garden as well as an ornamental lake …. and a garden shop and cafe.

Visitors to Edinburgh can explore the cities magnificent Royal Botanical Gardens also featured in the Scottish Rhododendron Festival.

Just south of Edinburgh, in the heart of East Lothian, garden enthusiasts can discover Greywalls.

Designed in by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll – the ‘dream team’ of house and garden design in the early 20th century, Greywalls is the quintessential example of an Edwardian Garden.

As well as the gorgeous gardens to be explored while enjoying our Luxury Scotland properties, there is also the wonderful experience of savouring some of the best afternoon teas in these floral settings.

And … speaking of Afternoon Teas, you can savour champagne, strawberries, decadent canapes, croquet, live music and a chance to enjoy some tennis at the Glorious Gleneagles Garden Party on Saturday 1st of June.

The main event will be a lively exhibition match between Pat Cash and Greg Rusedski – umpired by Judy Murray. Then it’s afternoon tea in the garden with sensational food and a sumptuous Afternoon Tea, including a magnificent centrepiece cake with seasonal Scottish berries by Gleneagles Executive Pastry Chef, Phil Skinazis.

If tennis is your game, you’ll find a number of tennis courts at Luxury Scotland hotels including GreywallsGlenappGleneaglesCromlix and the Isle of Eriska Hotel.

And finally, it’s an exciting month for whisky aficionados with World Whisky Day on 18th May.
