Knockinaam has a warm inviting feel of a small country house with friendly and attentive staff who pride themselves on personalised service.
We have 10 wonderful bedrooms, five of these have spectacular sea views and one is a two bedroom family suite. All our bedrooms have their own individual personalities blending the traditional building with modern comforts, although, each one is complimented by those special little touches making it a real “home away from home”. Our self-catering Shingle Lodge is just a stone’s throw from the beach and is perfect for a rural retreat or a base from which to explore Dumfries and Galloway.
Few small country house hotels in Dumfries and Galloway, indeed in Scotland, can match the array of awards possessed by Knockinaam – 3 AA red stars, 3 AA food rosettes and 1 Michelin Star (one of only 15 in Scotland and the only in Dumfries and Galloway).
History abounds at Knockinaam, built in 1869 as a hunting lodge this is also the site for a secret meeting between Sir Winston Churchill, General Eisenhower and their Chiefs of Staff during the Second World War and also inspired John Buchan while he was penning the 39 Steps.
