Activities
This
area is still one of Scotland's truly best kept secrets with few restrictions
to your enjoyment of the great outdoors. Here are some of the highlights. Wonderful unspoilt
game fishing at a plethora of local lochs and rivers.
 |
|
There are five
major game fishing rivers in Dumfries & Galloway, the Border Esk,
Annan, Nith, Cree and the Bladnoch, with a plethora of smaller rivers
such as the Urr, Dee and the Water of Luce. Let us arrange a fishing
break or holiday for you here. |
A scenically spectacular
and testing 18 hole golf course at Stranraer, the last course to be designed
by the legendary James Braid. More great golf close by at Portpatrick
and Glenluce, and we're not that far from Turnberry!
|
Fabulous walking,
hillwalking and some mountain climbing in the Galloway hills, the
'Highlands of the south' Sensational beach, inland and forest walks
and cycle runs along a huge network of single track roads and unspoilt
routes - tranquility and timelessness itself. |
|
 |
A fantastic road
network, combined with the 'bigger' roads east, north and south provides
a range of easy, relaxing go-as-you-please touring and sightseeing opportunities,
which you can combine with some gentle walking along the way.
Visits to are a must.
Day trip to Ayr, Dumfries, Drumlanrig or Culzean castles - and delightful
Solway coastal villages such as Kippford and Rockcliffe, and spend some
time in the beautiful Galloway Forest Park or Logan Botanic Gardens .
 |
|
A wildlife paradise
- the whole area simply abounds with
interest. There are conservation centres, wildlife reserves and animal
sanctuaries throughout Dumfries & Galloway with a huge variety
of animal, bird, sea and plant life for you to discover.
|
Pony trekking along
the beautiful Solway beaches and sands. Great forest walks at Galloway
Forest Park. A leisure centre and swimming pool at Stranraer only a few
