Golf Courses in Edinburgh are in abundance and are of a quality, which, like other areas of Scotland, sets us aside from many other tourist destinations. If you hire a car, the variety and choice of golf is never ending. We are no more than a 45 minute drive from St Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles, with Muirfield only 30 minutes away. Shopping

The hotel does not boast any shops, but it doesn't need to. Located in the heart of the city, there is a vast array of excellent shopping in the immediate vicinity.

Princes Street
The main shopping thoroughfare with many of the standard British high street stores, it also has two large shopping centers, the St James and Waverley market. Jenners, (the Harrods of Scotland) is located at the east end.

George Street
Running parallel to Princes Street, this is the place to go for high quality up market stores. Harvey Nichols & Louis Vuitton have recently opened at the east end on St Andrews Square.

Rose Street
Positioned between Princes & George Street, this partly pedestrianised narrow Street is home to lots of small specialty craft shops.

West Bow / Victoria Street
Steep and curving between George IV Bridge & the Grassmarket this too has many interesting small speciality shops.

Stockbridge
North west of the New Town, this area boasts a number of charming boutiques and antique shops.

Dining

The Hotel has 4 dining areas:

  • The Terrace
    With it's tall windows looking out onto the piazza & fountains of Festival Square with the Castle as a backdrop, the Terrace offers exceptional value for lunch or dinner, with an extensive buffet, carvery and sizzling stir-fry selection.
  • The Exchange
    The hotel's lounge bar is as popular for afternoon tea as it’ exhaustive collection of malt whiskies.  It also offers a fine selection of soups, gourmet sandwiches, light meals and desserts.
  • Santini
    Santini's promise is authentic Italian cuisine served in one of the capital's most stylish restaurants.
  • Spa Café
    Nutritious and delicious, the Spa Café menu has been especially designed to complement your daily rituals.

 

Transport

The hotel is located in the center of Edinburgh approximately 5 minutes drive from Waverley train station, 20 minutes from Edinburgh airport and is easily accessible from the M8 & M9 motorway routes to the west, the M90 to the north, A1 to the east and A7 & A68 routes to the south. 150 under cover car parking spaces are also available on site.

A business center is available offering internet access, photocopying & shredding facilities, fax transmissions and translation / interpreting services on request.

Meetings & Events

A dedicated events team is available to assist with bookings for any of the 11 conference & banqueting rooms accommodating up to 500 people.

Arrivals & Departures

Arrival time is generally 3pm, although subject to availability, an earlier check-in may be possible. Check-out is 12 noon.  Late departures may be arranged subject to availability, additional charges do apply.

Reservations & Cancellations

Reservations can be made either through our in-house reservations department or central reservations. Policy allows for a 6pm release on reservations which have been guaranteed, otherwise, 4pm.

Dress Code

There is no formal dress code in the public areas of the hotel.  Most guests find smart casual attire matches the relaxed ambience of the hotel.   Swim wear must be worn in One Spa’s swimming pool, thermal suite and hyrdopool.
