an ideal setting from board meetings to private dining,

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa boasts two state of the art
Smart Meeting Rooms, designed for intimate top-level meetings.
They offer a full range of integrated computer-based facilities,
built-in AV equipment, VCR, DVD, data/video conferencing, conference
phone and mobile phone chargers. By including comfortable swivel
chairs, we have ensured that nothing has gone unnoticed.
The
ballroom is the largest hotel function suite in the city and can

The flexibility of

The
foyer to the Edinburgh Suite, which is ideal for drinks receptions
and as a breakout area, has also benefited from the refurbishment.
The lighting and furniture in this area has been enhanced and
now reflects the same contemporary style as the main suite.
With
this elegant refurbishment creating a contemporary ambience to
the Edinburgh Suite, the Sheraton Grand is an ideal venue in the
heart of the Scottish Capital and the 9th most popular conference
destination in the UK. The hotel also offers nine additional flexible
function rooms.
To
make sure everything runs smoothly, our dedicated events and banqueting
team is on hand to help plan and co-ordinate the most demanding
of functions.
Dining: Two award winning restaurants, including one Italian Santini
and a dining terrace which looks out to Edinburgh castle as well
as private dining.
Team bonding/relaxation: The six storey state-of-the-art
spa, One, is the most advanced city spa in Europe. One is a new
spa concept that offers a lifestyle philosophy designed to meet
the needs of modern day living. The unique treatments, heat and
cooling experiences, fitness activities and relaxation methods
have been carefully blended to provide the optimal environment
to encourage health and well-being.
Case study: The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa were recently
the venue for an international Incentive programme for AG Edwards,
a large US brokerage firm. The incentive consisted of two groups
split between the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa and The Gleneagles
Hotel. After four nights both groups came together for one large
meeting and then swapped hotels. Groups like this require an understanding
of how clients from different countries do business. US clients
have particularly high standards and expectations and it is up
to the hotel to anticipate every clients' needs. It is essential
to always have a pre-con which should be attended by every head
of department in the hotel. This enables the client to meet all
the relevant people in the hotel and a chance to run through the
programme before the group arrives, last minute changes are normal
with any event and should be expected. Conversely a post event
debrief should be carried out to enable your client to give honest
and constructive feedback before departure. This information should
then be used to improve and excel for future events. This particular
incentive was a huge success at the hotel primarily because the
entire hotel wanted it to go well and understood what was expected
of them and not only gave excellent service but went the extra
mile which only impressed the client. Their parting words as they
left were "we'll be back"!
Top
Tips on organising your social programme
1. Recommend a great DMC - they are the professionals and in Scotland
we are lucky enough to a lot of extremely creative DMC's.
2. The Wow Factor - do something that they could not do as an
individual!
3. Offer a variety of options, not everyone wants to do golf and
spa!
4. Be unique - if spa is an option, why not go for something totally
different like One Spa?
5. Incentive groups buy the destination first, therefore don't
disappoint, do something that shouts Scotland!
