Activities

Cycling in the areas around Airds is highly recommended as it enables you to enjoy a wider range of scenery than if you were walking. Lismore Island is a particularly popular trip with a very peaceful single track road running through its centre giving access to stunning views including three ruined castles. Airds Hotel can book the bikes for you.

For mountain bikers the Nevis range just north of Fort William (45 minutes drive) offers 60km of off road trails and is suited to all levels of ability right up to the most experienced who may wish to try the trail built for The World Cup. Bikes of different grades and associated equipment are available to hire. (See also Biking Scotland article)

Charter a sea going motor boat for a day and enjoy the freedom of the sea. Go out to see the seals basking on the rocks in the middle of the Loch Linnhe. Whether your preference is fishing, sight seeing or simply soaking up the fresh air, Airds Hotel can arrange it.

For the more active you can hire a small sailing boat or surf board. For the ultimate seagoing thrill - Seafari Adventures specialise in a unique combination of high adventure and pure exhilaration in dramatic seascapes with the potential of close encounters with Scotland's magnificent sealife.

Horse riding is very popular with our guests at Airds Hotel and we have good stables conveniently located just ten minutes drive from the hotel. The stables cater for first timers wanting a walk along the beach as well as experienced riders looking to enjoy a two hour canter in the countryside.

There are four golf courses within an hours drive of Airds Hotel.

Glencruitten Golf Course is our nearest 18 hole course. Located 35 minutes drive south of the hotel. (4452 yds / par 61).

To the north there is Fort William Golf Course 45 minutes drive from the hotel ( 6217 yds / par 71). Taynuilt Golf Club is a 9 hole parkland course on the shores of Loch Etive 40 minuted drive from the hotel. Ballachulish Golf Course is a challenging golf course with spectacular views to Loch Linne and the mountains to the north.(5,038 yards /  par 68/65)
