4 day Highland
Itinerary
Day
1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

| An
early start was needed to be sure of returning to Edinburgh in time for dinner.
However we somehow got persuaded by Nick to join him onboard his boat and a short
unscheduled cruise around Ardnoe Point confirmed our impression of Crinan as a
haven of relaxation and Scottish hospitality. The
morning's drive began with a leisurely drive along the banks of Loch Fyne, through
historic Inverary, past Inverary Castle and over to Tarbet for a brief lunch stop
on the banks of Loch Lomond. |
Intending originally
to make a speedy journey along the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh we
decided to catch a few more hours in this enchanting countryside and detoured
over to Aberfoyle and Trossachs. This was 'Rob Roy Country' and full of legends re-enacted
in Sir Walter Scotts famous journals and books.
The
music tape we had purchased at the House of Bruar became the soundtrack for a
drive we were sorry to finish. | |

| Seeing
the views of Stirling Castle, Linlithgow Palace and finally Edinburgh Castle all
within the last sixty minutes of our journey confirmed that Scotland must have
almost as many Castles as it has golf courses. In four days we had almost become
Scots! Soaking
up the beautiful landscapes, the rich history and culture of this unforgettable
country plus the warm hospitality of our hosts had made us feel part of Scotland
. a rare and memorable achievement for any vacation. |
