TRAVELLING
BY CAR - GENERAL INFORMATION
In Scotland as in the rest of the UK driving is on the left-hand side of the road.
Travel distances are signposted in miles. A good network of motorways and dual
carriageways joins the main cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth, and Aberdeen.
In the larger towns traffic problems can cause delays and smaller roads in the
more rural Border region, West Coast and Highland area often make travelling a
lot slower than regular roads. However rural Scotland, with its striking scenery,
is an enjoyable place to drive, and the roads, even to the more remote parts are
generally well surfaced.
